Tell me about the frost proof guarantee
The unique mixture of materials used in the manufacture of our products together with the resin content make the pots watertight, extremely strong and totally frost proof. They have been tested to -23°C and have been successfully used outdoors in the United States, Russia and North Europe throughout harsh winters.
Are the pots suitable for planting trees?
Our pots are incredibly strong and some are suitable for planting trees as well as plants. We can advise on the options. They have been successfully used to grow olive, citrus and palm trees.
How heavy are the pots?
The pots are about a third of the weight of equivalent sized terracotta pots making manoeuvrability easier. Specific weights can be provided on request.
Can any of the pots be adapted for use as water features?
Yes, all the pots can be adapted and used as a water feature. However, you will need to purchase a kit (including a pool and pump) for this purpose and holes will need to be drilled in the pot.
Is it necessary to use a drip tray under the pots if using them indoors?
No. If no drainage holes have been drilled, then it is not necessary to use a drip tray under the pots. The water inside the pot cannot penetrate to the exterior as the pots are 100% watertight. However, we can fit small drainage taps at the bottom side of the pot for customers to drain off excess water for indoor planting using soil.
Do we need to drain the water features in the winter?
No, this is not necessary. If the water freezes, it will expand but this will not crack the pot.
Do the pots need protecting from frost in the winter?
No, the pots do not need to be raised off the ground, nor bubble wrapped to protect them from frost unlike other clay pots. They can be left outside all winter. However, precaution needs to be taken with regards to plants in the winter.
How much do you charge for drilling drainage holes in the pots?
Specific drainage holes created for customers will be charged at a rate of £2.50 per pot, unless otherwise agreed with the customer at the time of ordering.
